Meet the Company On-Site

Now that you've completed your interview with us and received the green light, it's time for the final step: your interview with the company you'll be working for. You'll visit your future workplace, meet your manager, and get a feel for the job and the team. If it's a match, you're hired! We'll collect the remaining documents, prepare your contract, and get everything ready so you can start as soon as possible.

Can I work in the Netherlands while waiting for my asylum decision?

Yes, but there are conditions. In general, your asylum application must have been pending for at least 6 months before you can start paid employment. You must also meet the other requirements for working as an asylum seeker.

Do I need a work permit as an asylum seeker?

Yes. If you are still waiting for a decision on your asylum application, your employer must obtain a work permit (TWV) before you can start working.

What documents do I need to be able to work?

Among the requirements, you need a valid W-document and your asylum application must generally have been pending for at least 6 months. Your employer must also have obtained a valid TWV for you before you start working.

How many hours can I work as an asylum seeker?

There is no longer a general 24-week-per-year restriction for asylum seekers who meet the conditions to work. Once you are eligible and your employer has obtained the required TWV, you can work beyond the old 24-week limit.

Can I start working immediately after applying for asylum?

No. If you are still waiting for a decision, you generally cannot start paid employment immediately. Your asylum application must first have been pending for at least 6 months, and your employer must arrange the required TWV before you start.

Who applies for my work permit?

Your employer applies for the TWV. As an asylum seeker, you do not arrange the TWV yourself.

Can I apply for jobs before the 6-month waiting period is over?

You can start exploring opportunities and preparing for employment, but you cannot begin paid work until you meet the legal conditions. This includes reaching the required waiting period and having an employer obtain a TWV for you.
