Job description

As a bakery shop employee in Nijmegen, your key role is to deliver outstanding service and create memorable experiences for customers. The bakery is inside a gas station and your role is to prepare and serve fresh sandwiches & drinks. Once you are up and running, you will also manage the cash register, taking customer orders and processing payments efficiently.

In this dynamic role, you will assist customers, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and work closely with your team to keep everything running smoothly. A proactive and energetic attitude is essential. While experience in hospitality is a plus, training is provided to help you succeed. Not all customers will speak English, so a basic understanding of Dutch (A2/B1) is preferred.

Main responsibilities:

  • Customer Service: Greet customers warmly and provide friendly service to enhance their experience.
  • Make Sandwiches & Beverages: Bake off, prepare and assemble delicious, fresh sandwiches with different types of cheese, spread or meat. You will learn how to make espresso, cappuccino, americano and how to serve them best to customers. Customers come to the bar, so you don't have to walk with a tray/platter.
  • Team Collaboration: You will always work in a team and will be working during peak hours during the week and weekends to ensure smooth operations.
  • Work Efficiency: The bakery shop is in a gas station so customers might be in a hurry to be at their destination on time. Alcohol is not served to customers.
  • Workplace Hygiene: as you work with food, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the bakery shop is essential.

Job requirements

  • Living in or near Nijmegen.
  • You are available starting from June.
  • You are proactive, reliable, friendly and approachable.
  • You are fluent in English, so you can communicate easily with team members.
  • You have basic Dutch-speaking skills (A2-B1) for brief customer interaction.
  • You understand Dutch.
  • A team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Hospitality or food service experience is a plus but not required.
  • Available for at least 1 year, preferably longer, and able to work 12-16 hours per week.
  • Available for at least one shift during the week (Wednesday - Thursday - Friday / 10:00-14:00) and always one shift at the weekend (Saturday-Sunday / 08:30 - 17:00).
Sometimes there will be an earlier shift (05:30 - 14:00)
  • Maximum 3 weeks in a row holiday (not available to work) in the summer period (July - August).

Hours & salary

The bakery shop operates from 06:00-17:00 during the week and from 08:00-17:00 during the weekend. You are expected to work at least one shift during the week (Monday-Friday / 10:00-14:00) and always one shift at the weekend (Saturday-Sunday / 08:00 - 17:00). That means you work around 12-16 hours per week.  Your salary:

Your salary will be €14.14 per hour, regardless of age.

 The company offers:

  • A fun and dynamic work environment in a well-established bakery shop.
  • Flexible working hours with the opportunity for growth.
  • Development opportunities through training.
  • A close-knit team and an internationally friendly workplace.
